8 Effective Home Remedies to Manage Gingivitis

If you are one of the millions of people who have gingivitis, you may understand how uncomfortable and embarrassing it can be. Gingivitis is a primary stage of gum disease that causes gum inflammation, swelling, and redness.

Without timely and proper gingivitis treatment, this condition can progress and even result in tooth loss. Fortunately, there are several treatment options that can help manage gingivitis and promote your oral health. In this article, we have gathered eight effective home remedies to manage gingivitis.

1. Vitamin C
Vitamin C can help in the management of gingivitis. This crucial vitamin supports the immune system, allowing your body to fight off the germs that contribute to gum disease. Oranges, strawberries, bell peppers, and kale are high in vitamin C. To ensure that you obtain enough of this important nutrient, you may also take a vitamin C supplement.

2. Clove oil
Clove oil is another popular home treatment used to relieve inflamed gums. Due to its antibacterial properties, this essential oil helps minimize gum swelling by treating the infection. It is also an analgesic, so it will relieve any gum discomfort you may be feeling.

Apply 2-3 drops of clove oil to the sore gums and gently massage. To reduce inflammation and discomfort, combine clove oil with black pepper. To get comfort, experts recommend chewing on cloves.

3. Oil pulling
This home remedy is an excellent approach to enhancing your general oral health while also assisting with gingivitis treatment. Oil pulling, which may be done with coconut oil or arimedadi oil, can help reduce germs and plaque accumulation in your mouth. Simply swish two teaspoons of oil around your mouth for 20 to 30 minutes. After spitting out the oil, rinse your mouth with warm saltwater and brush your teeth.

4. Lemongrass mouthwash
Lemongrass essential oil has traditionally been used to treat digestive issues as well as high blood pressure. However, lemongrass mouthwash may be more effective than regular mouthwash in preventing and treating gingivitis.

Take 8 ounces of water with 2 to 3 drops of lemongrass essential oil. Swish the lemongrass oil mouthwash about your mouth for 30 seconds. When you're done, spit it down the drain. Repeat the lemongrass oil mouthwash three times a day until your gums are no longer sore.

5. Sea salt water rinse
Because sea salt is a disinfectant, it is a natural approach to help your body recover. It's a fantastic option for reducing inflammation in the early stages of gum disease. Mix ½ to ¾ teaspoon sea salt with a cup of lukewarm water to make your own salt water rinse. Spit out the rinse after 30 seconds of swishing it around in your mouth.

6. Turmeric gel
According to one study, turmeric gel can successfully reduce plaque and gingivitis. This could be a result of its anti-inflammatory properties. Additionally, turmeric has antibacterial and antifungal properties. So It can help manage gum bleeding and reddening.

Turmeric or Curcuma gel can be used as a therapy. Turmeric contains the active component curcumin.  Brush your teeth, properly rinse them, and then apply the turmeric gel to your gums. Allow the gel to settle for ten minutes. Swish water around your mouth to remove all of the gel, then spit it out. Apply the turmeric gel two times a day.

7. Hydrogen peroxide rinse
Hydrogen peroxide may be used to treat gingivitis at home. This effective antiseptic can help to eliminate the germs that cause gum disease while also reducing pain and inflammation. To use hydrogen peroxide, combine equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide in a cup or glass. Swish the solution for 30 seconds. Spit it out and rinse your mouth with water. Repeat several times a day for fast recovery.

8. Mouthwash with aloe vera
Aloe vera can help you reduce plaque and manage gum disease. It's simple to use because it doesn't need to be diluted or combined with anything; simply use 100% pure aloe vera juice. Spit it out after 30 seconds of swishing it around in your mouth. Use aloe vera two or three times daily.

Always follow the instructions on the packaging and purchase aloe vera from a reliable supplier. However, if you have ever experienced an allergic reaction to aloe vera, you should avoid using it as a mouthwash.
